Bamboo: problems & diagnosis

Two very different plants share the name. 'Lucky bamboo' is actually a Dracaena, usually grown indoors in water, while true bamboo is a vigorous outdoor grass such as Fargesia or Phyllostachys. Most yellowing on either traces back to water — quality and stagnation for lucky bamboo, drought or waterlogging for the outdoor kind — rather than disease.
